Saturday with four days of off from work ahead. Surprisingly, my editorial about children is going to be quoted by MP Eva Biaudet. Or at least her assistant had been calling our paper saying that her MP was going to give a speech about ”how to make children”. I also surprised myself with writing an editorial about the end of pop music. That again was related to George Michael’s latest movie Different Story, where he says that pop music is going to be dead with him. Après nous le déluge, after us, the flood, of course, like madame Pompadour (1721-64), mistress of Louis XV of France, was reported to have said. George Michael is like Elvis proclaiming he is going to leave the building.
But talking pop, there is much to it. We have lost true fandom, true worship and true expectation. Pop music needed all that. Malcolm McLaren, once a producer of Sex Pistols says the future lies with lo-fi sounds from Gameboy, Playstations and old Ataris.
